Savoring Local Flavor:
LB Fresh 2024 Report

2024 was a banner year for Long Beach Fresh, blending creativity, collaboration, and community impact to nourish the city’s local food movement. From the Produce 2 Market program delivering fresh produce to underserved neighborhoods, to advocating for the MEHKO ordinance empowering home-based chefs, every initiative brought fresh opportunities to connect and grow. Highlights included the vibrant Marketplace Mambo video celebrating urban gardening, the delicious Ceviche Fest showcasing Peruvian flavors, and the inspiring Foodways Summit that united growers, chefs, and advocates. As we look to 2025, Long Beach Fresh is ready to cook up even more initiatives for a vibrant, equitable food system. Read More >

ABOUT US

Long Beach Fresh

Long Beach Fresh is dedicated to expanding Long Beach’s local food economy and infrastructure in ways that benefit our city’s diverse local communities. We think that everyone should have affordable access to good food – food that is nutritious, culturally relevant, and that has integrity in how it’s produced and distributed.

We host community events and working groups, provide direct consulting to local food businesses and community organizations, promote local innovation in food, and work to create systems-level changes to the food system.

WE SUPPORT ALL THREE PILLARS OF A GREAT FOOD SYSTEM

We're here to help "Eaters, Feeders and Seeders" find, grow, share and prepare local, seasonal healthy food!

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We envision Long Beach as a city where local healthy food is produced, distributed and enjoyed equitably. Currently, geographic and social disparities in health outcomes show a need for place-based interventions to improve local food access. Where you live shouldn’t determine your health!
